Apple Maps Cycling Directions Now Available in New Zealand

Apple Maps has expanded the availability of cycling routes in the globe’s southern hemisphere by adding support for New Zealand routes.

Cycling directions first debuted in ‌‌Apple Maps‌‌ in iOS 14. The feature provides directions for bike riders using bike lanes, bike paths, and bike-friendly routes that provide information about stairs, steep inclines, and other obstacles.

New Zealand joins several other countries where cycling routes are available in Apple Maps. These include:

  • Australia
  • Barcelona, Spain
  • China mainland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Japan
  • London, United Kingdom
  • Montréal, Canada
  • Toronto, Canada
  • United States
  • Vancouver, Canada

Previously, cycling directions for Oceania had been limited to Australia.

New information like this traditionally rolls out gradually, so if you’re a New Zealand citizen or visitor be patient if you’re not seeing them quite yet.
