Netflix will soon end support for some older iPhones and iPads. The streaming service will no longer offer updates compatible with devices running iOS 16 and iPadOS 16.
Netflix has notified iPhone and iPad users that is has dropped support for iOS 16 and iPadOS 16. This means that older devices will no longer be able run the Netflix app.
“We’ve updated the Netflix app! To use the latest version, install iOS 17 or later,” says an alert shown on devices running the Netflix app on iOS 16.
iOS 16 users can ignore the alert and continue using the Netflix app, but it will likely stop working at a future date. App updates generally bring new features, as well as bug fixes and security patches.

In June, Netflix announced it was dropping support for second-generation and third-generation Apple TV models as of July 31, 2024. Netflix said it made the decision to “maintain the best possible Netflix experience” by focusing only on devices that can support the latest features and updates.
The second-generation Apple TV was sold by Apple from 2010 until 2012. The set-top box was the first to sport the black body we’re familiar with today, was powered by an A4 chip, and output video in 720p.
