Apple on Wednesday released the first firmware update for its Beats Studio Buds + earbuds, marking the first update to the earbuds since their launch in 2023. The new firmware has a build number of 2C318, up from 2A219. While Apple does not provide release notes, MacRumors reports that the firmware update added Audio Sharing support to the earbuds..
Apple’s mid-range Beats earbuds offer several convenient features, including Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency mode, microphones, battery life, and more. The earbuds are available in Ivory, Black/Gold, as well as a transparent option.
While the Studio Buds + do not include an Apple audio chip, they are equipped with a custom Beats chip that provides better feature parity between iOS and Android devices. (Beats earbuds are popular with Android users.)
While there is no way to manually force an update for the Beats software, the firmware is usually installed over-the-air when the earbuds are in Bluetooth range of an iOS device. If you put your Beats Studio Buds in the case and connect them to a power source and pairing them to an iPhone or iPad will likely cause an update to occur after a short while.
Android users will be required to download the Beats app for Android and connect the Android device to a power outlet to initiate a firmware update.
