Apple has shared an internal memo with Apple Authorized Service Providers, acknowledging the issue with iPadOS 18 bricking M4-powered iPad Pro models. We reported on the issue earlier this week.
The memo, which was shared by MacRumors, says a “small number” of iPad Pro devices are unable to power back on after a user attempts to install iPadOS 18 on their device. Apple says it is working to resolve the issue and has held back the iPadOS 18 update from affected iPad Pro models until a fix is ready.
Apple is advising technicians to attempt a force restart of a customer’s iPad Pro model for affected models.
It is unclear how long it will take for Apple to identify and implement a fix.
While several users report that their M4 iPad Pro was bricked by the iOS 18 update, not all M4 iPad Pro owners report having had an issue installing the update, leading some to theorize that it is possibly linked to installing the new iOS 17.7 update before installing iOS 18.
