Apple today unveiled its new Apple Watch Series 10, which boasts a larger OLED display than previous Apple Watch models. The Cupertino company describes it as “biggest display and thinnest design ever.”
The new Apple Watch Series 10 is just 9.7mm thick, which is nearly 10% thinner than Series 9, and it weighs 20% less than the Stainless Steel Series 9. The aluminum models also weigh up to 10% less. The Series 10 is also available in Grade 5 titanium, replacing the previous stainless steel option.
The Apple Watch Series 10 also offers the fastest-charging ever, and is able to charge up to 80% in just 30 minutes.
The Apple Watch Series 10 uses a new neural network to reduce background noise when making calls with the watch. The new model can also play music and podcasts through its speaker for the first time ever.
A new depth gauge measures up to 20 feet depth and offers water temperature for pool and open water swimming. A new metal back housing includes an integrated antenna,
The Series 10 can also alert users if they have sleep apnea symptoms, which involves a users stopping their breathing repeatedly during the night. Apple developed the algorithm using machine learning and clinical data, and the algorithm was then validated in a clinical trial.
The Apple Watch Series 10’s new S10 SiP was engineered to achieve a thinner watch profile, while being designed for performance, power efficiency, and intelligence. The S10 SiP has a built-in 4-core Neural Engine to allow for intelligent features, including the double tap gesture that debuted last year, on-device Siri, dictation, and automatic workout detection. It also handles important safety features, including Crash Detection and Fall Detection, the updated Smart Stack, the redesigned Photos face, and the Translate app in watchOS 11.
