Apple is now sending out emails to its customers, telling them that changes are on the way to the Apple Cash Terms and Conditions.
Apple’s new Tap to Cash feature is a new feature in its upcoming iOS 18 and watchOS 11 operating systems, which will be released to the public later this year. The new feature allows Apple Cash users to transfer funds in person from their iPhone or Apple Watch to another iPhone or Apple Watch. Apple is making changes to its Apple Cash identity verification rules.
Starting October 4, iPhone and Apple Watch users will need to verify their identity to send more than a total of $500 in a peer-to-peer transfer. Apple will require the verification for fund transfers from a credit card or debit card in the Wallet app or from the user’s Apple Cash balance. Prior transactions count toward the $500 identity verification trigger.
An Apple support document says users will also be required to verify their identity to receive or add $500 or more in total.
The support document explains how to verify your identification:
