We won’t see a foldable MacBook until the end of 2027 or 2028 at the earliest due to technical challenges, according to Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo’s comments were posted to X.

We’ve seen several reports from various industry analysts, including display industry analyst Ross Young, Kuo, and others. indicating that Apple is developing an all-display foldable laptop with a 20.2-inch or an 18.8-inch screen.

2. Due to technical challenges with the display and mechanical, the assembly mass production schedule has been pushed back from 1H26 to the end of 2027 or 2028.
3. Some market participants previously expected Apple to launch the foldable iPad in 2025, but the current supply chain survey indicates that the foldable iPad has no visibility. This may also be because some call this foldable MacBook a foldable iPad.
The laptop is expected to offer a full-size on-screen keyboard that integrates the typing experience into the display itself. When the device is completely unfolded, it has been said it will function as a standard monitor. By pairing the unfolded device with an external keyboard, it would essentially transform into a large-screen desktop computer.
Apple has long been experimenting with multiple devices with foldable displays, including a foldable iPad and an all screen MacBook.
