Apple CEO Tim Cook and Apple Software and Services chief Eddy Cue attended the annual Sun Valley Conference in Sun Valley, Idaho, over the weekend.
Guests, who generally dress down for the occasion, attend lectures on politics, business, and other subjects, all of which are closed to the press. There is plenty of socializing involved, as the guests attend group lunches and dinners. Cook and Cue are both regular attendees.
The conference is known as a place where partnerships are forged, and major deals are made, so much attention will be paid as to who huddles with whom, and if anyone is seen hanging out a little more than usual with someone else. Yes, just like high school.
Other attendees this year include Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Oprah Winfrey, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Bill Gates, Salesforce CEO Mark Benioff, Nike CEO John Donahoe, Sony CEO Ken Yoshida, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan, SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and Disney CEO Bob Iger.
The Sun Valley event is invitation-only, with limited access for members of the media, which means that the deals and allegiances formed at the event go unreported.
