Apple’s new and improved Apple Intelligence-powered version of Siri will likely not roll out until spring 2025, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman.
Gurman’s comments came in his latest “Power On” newsletter. Gurman claims the full new version of Siri will likely arrive with iOS 18.4 in the spring of 2025, preceded by a beta testing period that will start in January.
Siri will be powered by generative AI, allowing it to understand more types of requests and to be more conversational. Siri won’t focus on open-ended requests like ChatGPT. Apple is instead using the new AI foundations to make Siri better at handling tasks like setting timers, creating reminders, and more.
While Siri currently operates as an ask-a-question-and-receive-an-answer system, often misunderstanding the user’s intent, the new Siri will be able to understand context and be more conversational.
Apple Intelligence will launch in the fall, with the release of Apple’s new device operating systems. While not all of the new Siri features will be available in the fall, other Siri features, such as a new design and ChatGPT integration, should be present upon the debut of Apple Intelligence this year.
