Apple’s Vision Pro spatial computing headset was expected by some to sell somewhere around 400,000 units in 2024, and it’s looking like that estimate may prove to be a bit optimistic, as the Vision Pro has yet to sell 100,000 units in a single quarter since its February launch. This is according to market tracker IDC (via Bloomberg).
“The Vision Pro’s success, regardless of its price, will ultimately depend on the available content,” said Francisco Jeronimo, vice president at IDC. “As Apple expands the product to international markets, it’s crucial that local content is also made available.”
Apple Vision Pro is set to launch in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, France, and Germany on Friday, July 12.
Reviews of the headset can be termed mixed at best. While reviewers have been impressed by the hardware and technology of the Vision Pro, its weight and lack of tailored apps and video content are cited among the chief reasons people are turning away from the gadget, with many buyers returning the headset to Apple.

Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted that Apple will ship only 400,000 to 450,000 Vision Pro headsets in 2024, mostly due to the complexity of manufacturing the device. Apple is reportedly working on a more affordably priced version of the headset, which Jeronimo anticipates will more than double sales when it hits shelves in the latter half of 2025.
