Apple’s Vision Pro spatial computing headset is now officially available at Apple Stores in the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, and Australia. This makes it 10 countries where the Vision Pro is available. The headset was previously only available in Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, mainland China, and the United States.
Apple is hoping the expansion of availability will help sales of the device, as consumer interest in the $3,499 headset has slowed in the U.S., failing to sell 100,000 units in any quarter following its U.S. debut.
Apple’s mixed reality headset offers both augmented and virtual reality features, and it is controlled using a combination of the user’s eyes, hands, and voice.
The new headset also includes dual micro-OLED displays with more than 23 million pixels, with 92% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. Supported refresh rates include 90Hz, 96Hz, and 100Hz, with 24 fps and 30 fps video playback options.
The headset also boasts AirPlay support at up to 1080p, allowing users to mirror their Vision Pro view to any AirPlay‑enabled device.
Reviews of the headset can be termed mixed at best. While reviewers have been impressed by the hardware and technology of the Vision Pro, its weight and lack of tailored apps and video content are cited among the chief reasons people are turning away from the gadget, with many buyers returning the headset to Apple.
