Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has shared what he says are the specs for the Cupertino firm’s much-rumored ultra-thin iPhone 17 model, which is expected to debut in 2025.
Kuo says he expects the handset to be equipped with a 6.6-inch display with Dynamic Island, A standard A19 chip, a single rear camera, and Apple’s new 5G modem.
The analyst says that while there will not be an iPhone 17 Plus, the new ultra-slim model is not intended to replace the Plus. Instead, Apple is exploring new design trends beyond the existing iPhone lineup.
Kuo points out that the iPhone Plus model currently accounts for only approximately 5–10% of total new iPhone shipments. Indicating that the other three iPhone models (Standard, Pro, and Pro Max) already serve the high-end market segments, making the Plus model redundant.
Kuo says the specifications of the ultra-slim iPhone 17 include:
1. Screen size: Approximately 6.6 inches
2. Screen resolution: Approximately 2,740 x 1,260
3. Processor: A19 chip (with the higher-end iPhones using the A19 Pro)
4. Dynamic island area: Similar to current models
5. Metal frame: Adoption of a titanium-aluminum alloy metal frame, with a lower percentage of titanium than the current Pro and Pro Max metal frames (with other iPhone 17 models using aluminum metal frames)
6. 5G chip: Adoption of Apple’s in-house 5G chip
7. Camera: Single rear camera (wide camera)
Apple is expected to debut the iPhone 17 series in September 2025, and claims about any new devices will continue to hit the rumor waves, so stay tuned, salt shaker in hand.
