iOS 18 Mini-Features: iPhone 15 Can Display the Time When It’s Out of Battery

I’ve been browsing around the web in search of little features that iOS 18 beta users have discovered, and here’s a cool one that works with iPhone 15. The iPhone’s Power Reserve function keeps a small bit of battery power in reserve to allow the iPhone to still access features like NFC unlocking and Find My, even when your iPhone battery is “dead.” Now, iOS 18 takes things a bit further on the iPhone 15 lineup.

As demonstrated in a Reddit post, even when an iPhone running iOS 18 has exhausted its battery, the phone can continue to show the time in the upper left corner of the device. Sure, it isn’t earth shattering, but it’s a useful upgrade. The battery icon still displays, and you’ll see “‌iPhone‌ is Findable” and “Express Cards and Keys Available” while reserve battery is left.

MacRumors reports that the feature is limited to the iPhone 15 lineup, as they tested an iPhone 14 Pro Max and were unable to get the time to display. An iPhone 15 Pro Max worked as expected.

Power Reserve has been a feature on iPhones dating back to the ‌iPhone‌ XR and ‌iPhone‌ XS.
