Apple’s upcoming watchOS 11 finally allows users to change the default ringtone on their Apple Watch. While this feature wasn’t mentioned by Apple at watchOS 11’s unveiling at WWDC24 last week, it was discovered by 9to5Mac.
watchOS 11 Ringtone Options
Apple Watch users have always been able to make and receive calls from their iPhones. However, there has never been a way to customize the Apple Watch’s ringtone.
watchOS 11 changes all that. The operating system beta, which is currently available only to developers, adds the option to change the Apple Watch’s ringtone.
There are eight different ringtones that users can choose from, including the previous ones from the GPS and Cellular versions. These are:
- Pebbles (Cellular ringtone)
- Focus
- Jingle (original ringtone)
- Nighthawk
- Transmit
- Twirl
- Windup
- Wonder
Users can also change the notification sound for text messages, emails, calendar alerts, reminders, and regular notifications. These options are:
- Resonate
- Brilliant
- Cheer
- Flutter
- Globe
- Moment
- Scoop
- Timekeeper
- Tinker
While this is a welcome new feature, users will still be unable to set a specific Apple Watch ringtone for each contact, or for selecting a ringtone from the iTunes Store.
