We reported back in February that Apple is preparing to rebrand its well-known Apple ID brand, renaming it to “Apple Account.” Apple ID accounts allow Apple users to access several services from the Cupertino firm, including the App Store, iCloud, and more. Apple IDs allow users to purchase apps and music, and subscribe and access services such as Apple TV+, Apple Music, and the App Store, among other things.
Apple on Tuesday confirmed the change in a press release:
With the releases of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and watchOS 11, Apple ID is renamed to Apple Account for a consistent sign-in experience across Apple services and devices, and relies on a user’s existing credentials.
You’ll still see some areas where the “Apple ID” branding is hanging around, including the Apple ID sign-in page on the internet. We will likely see the transition to “Apple Account” be completed in the fall, following the release of iOS 18, iPasOS 18, and the other updated Apple operating systems.
