Apple earlier this week debuted its upcoming iOS 18 and iPadOS operating systems for its iPhone and iPad lineups. But what about iOS 17 and iPadOS 17? How many devices are running those two mobile operating systems just ahead of WWDC24, where the new versions were unveiled?
The following adoption numbers are based on iPhones and iPads that transacted on the App Store on June 9, the day before WWDC began:
On May 30 of last year, Apple published iOS 16 adoption figures, saying 81% of all iPhones had been updated to iOS 16 at that time, so iOS 17’s adoption peak of 77% of all iPhones as of 10 days later this year indicates that iOS 17 adoption is a bit lacking when compared to iOS 16.
Apple earlier this week made the first betas of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 available to developers. Both mobile operating systems will likely be publicly released sometime in September.
