First iOS 17.5 and iPadOS 17.5 Public Betas Now Available

Apple on Thursday seeded the first public beta of its upcoming iOS 17.5 and iPadOS 17.5 updates to public beta testers for testing. The new public betas come two days after Apple released the initial beta seed to developers.

Public beta testers who have signed up for Apple’s beta testing program can download the ‌iOS 17‌.5 and ‌iPadOS 17‌.5 updates by opening the Settings app, going to “General,” tapping on the “Software Update” section, and turning on the ‌iOS 17‌ Public Beta option.

iOS 17.5 focuses primarily on changes in the European Union. App developers in the EU are now able to add their iPhone apps to their website so that users can download them directly from outside of the App Store.

This feature is limited to the European Union due to the Digital Markets Act and is not available to all users.

MacTrast and Apple both warn users not to install any betas on their daily driver iPhone or iPad. Instead, only install betas on a device set aside for testing purposes.
