Apple today announced that it will release its second-generation HomePod and its HomePod mini to consumers in Malaysia, Thailand, and Turkey, starting May 10.
Apple is already taking pre-orders through its online stores in those three countries and the smart speakers will ship and go on sale in those countries’ retail stores on May 10.
Apple first released the HomePod mini in October 2020, in the United States and a few other countries. Other than new colors in November 2021 and the devices’ temperature and humidity sensors being activated via software updates last year, no significant updates have been made to the HomePod mini lineup. As Appl is releasing the speaker in more countries, we likely will not see a second-generation mini any time soon.
Apple originally phased out the original full-sized HomePod back in 2021, only to launch a second-generation model in January. While the new full-sized HomePod resembles its predecessor, it boasts an enlarged backlit touch interface and several other enhancements.
