Apple TV+ has scored awards during the 76th Directors Guild of America Awards, with “Lessons in Chemistry” winning its category while an Apple Music ad also received a nod.
Saturday night’s 76th annual DGA Awards gave out awards for outstanding directorial achievements in 2023. The awards show was hosted by Judd Apatow and held at the Beverley Hilton in Beverley Hills.
Apple TV+ scored a win by Sarah Adina Smith for an episode of the “Lessons in Chemistry” series, entitled “Her and Him.” The award was for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Movies for Television and Limited Series.
In the category, Smith beat out Tara Miele and Millicent Shelton, who were also listed for the “Lessons in Chemistry” episodes “Introduction to Chemistry” and “Poirot.” Nzingha Stewart was also in the running for “Daisy Jones & The Six,” alongside Shawn Levy for “All the Light We Cannot See.”
Apple also scored an award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Commercials, as Kim Gehrig of Somsuch won for the Apple Music commercial “Run This Town.”
Other Apple TV+ shows also received nominations but failed to win, including Declan Lowney and Erica Dunton for “Ted Lasso” and Martin Scorsese for “Killers of the Flower Moon.’
