Apple Could Rename Apple ID to ‘Apple Account’ Later This Year

Apple is preparing to rebrand its well-known Apple ID brand, renaming it to “Apple Account,” according to a report by MacRumors. The publication says its sources tell it that Apple is experimenting with the new Apple Account name, and it could debut as soon as this year.

Apple ID accounts allow Apple users to access several services from the Cupertino firm, including the App Store, iCloud, and more. Apple IDs allow users to purchase apps and music, and subscribe and access services such as Apple TV+, Apple Music, and the App Store, among other things.

The report says the rebranding from Apple ID to Apple Account will likely take place alongside the release of iOS 18 and macOS 15, later this year. All system applications will be modified to reflect the branding change, along with Apple’s website materials, which will replace existing mentions of “‌Apple ID‌” with “Apple Account.”

It is unclear exactly why Apple is considering the rebranding move, and Apple may decide not to make the change or make a change with a completely different brand name.

Stay tuned.
