AppleCare+ for the Apple Vision Pro headset is priced at $499 for two years of coverage, making it one of the costliest optional support and service plans available for any Apple device. While that seems expensive, it’s nowhere near what you’ll be required to pay if you damage the headset.
The Vision Pro boasts an aluminum frame that houses a single piece of laminated (quite breakable) glass.
Apple’s Vision Pro service page lists repair fees for the device. You’ll pay $799 to fix a cracked cover glass, but if any other component needs repair, the cost skyrockets to as much as $2,399. Put another $1,100 with that and you can pay the full cost of a new Vision Pro.
As mentioned above AppleCare+ is priced at $499 for two years of coverage. Customers also have the option to pay $24.99 per month for the coverage, which lasts until you cancel the payments. While that’s expensive, it’s still cheaper than paying a $2,399 repair bill.
Apple Care+ coverage for the Vision Pro includes unlimited repairs for accidental damage, Apple-certified service and support, Express Replacement Service, and 24/7 priority access to Apple experts.
Keep in mind that there is a $299 deductible for AppleCare+ repairs to the device itself (including a cracked display), and a $29 service fee for repairing any accessories, such as the Light Seal.
In the humble opinion of this reporter, Apple Vision Pro buyers should add two things to the purchase of the headset, AppleCare+ and a protective case. While Apple’s case will cost a cool $200, third-party options should start making an appearance on shelves soon.
