Code discovered in the recently seeded iPadOS 17.4 beta indicates Apple’s upcoming iPad Pro is likely to boast a landscape Face ID camera.
“During Face ID setup, iPad needs to be in landscape with the camera at the top of the screen,” reads the code (via MacRumors).
This doesn’t really come as much of a surprise, as Apple relocated the front-facing camera on its 10th-generation iPad to the side of the device. It appears Apple is making a similar change on its upcoming iPad Pro models.
The iPad Pro is the only iPad model that is equipped with Face ID, so the discovered code indicates Apple is relocating the front-facing camera to the side of the device from its current top location. However, Apple is also rumored to be adding Face ID to the iPad Air, so the code could also apply to that device.
We’ve seen quite a few rumors indicating Apple will debut new iPad Air and iPad Pro models as soon as April, so stay tuned.
