Bloomberg’s Gurman: New M3 MacBook Air Models to Hit Shelves Around March 2024

Apple is planning to offer refreshed MacBook Air models around March 2024, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. He says Updated 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro models are in the works.

No major design changes are planned for the refreshed 2024 models says the report, as Apple overhauled the ‌MacBook Air‌’s design in 2022 and then introduced a larger model in 2023. Instead, the focus will be on updated innards, including the recently debuted M3 chip.

The M3 chip, which first debuted in the recently updated MacBook Pro models, is the first chip built on Apple’s 3-nanometer process, bringing performance and efficiency improvements. M3 chip benchmarks suggest that the CPU is up to 21% faster than the M2, and the GPU is up to 15% faster.

Gurman says Apple is developing the new Macs alongside a macOS 14.3 update that is expected to debut between the end of January and February, but new hardware may ship around the March timeframe. The new MacBook Air models could launch alongside updated iPad Pro and iPad Air models, which are expected for around March.
