Apple is reportedly internally testing an iOS 17.2.1 update for the iPhone. Publication MacRumors says they have seen evidence of the new update in its website analytics logs.
iOS 17.2.1 would likely be a minor update with fixes for bugs and/or security vulnerabilities. Following the release of iOS 17.2 last week, some users have complained about a bug that causes the Messages app’s icon to disappear when rearranging app icons on the Home Screen, but at this time it is uncertain if iOS 17.2.1 would address this issue.
Given that Apple traditionally does not release updates during holiday weeks, we may not see an iOS 17.2.1 release until next month. However, if the update contains critical fixes we could see it sooner.
Apple continues to test its iOS 17.3 update, which features a new Stolen Device Protection feature that limits access to your private information in case someone obtains both your iPhone and your passcode.
