TikTok on Tuesday announced the launch of its new Add to Music App” feature that offers support for the Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music streaming services. The Add to Music App feature is now available in the United States and the United Kingdom, with more countries to follow.
The feature will show an “Add Song” button located beside the track name at the bottom of a TikTok video in the For You Feed. Users can also use the Add to Music App feature from an artist’s Sound Detail page. The first time a user presses the Add Song button, they can choose to save it to their preferred music streaming service. The music app selected will then become the default music streaming service for future track saves. Users will also have the option to add the track to a new playlist or an existing playlist that they have created.
Users will have the ability to select to change the default music streaming service at any time under settings. Users can also use the Add to Music App feature from an artist’s Sound Detail Page.
Ole Obermann, TikTok’s Global Head of Music Business Development, discussed the app’s role in driving user engagement with artists’ music.
“TikTok is already the world’s most powerful platform for music discovery and promotion, which helps artists connect with our global community to drive engagement with their music,” he said. “Add to Music App takes this process a step further, creating a direct link between discovery on TikTok and consumption on a music streaming service, making it easier than ever for music fans to enjoy the full-length song on the music streaming service of their choice, thereby generating even greater value for artists and rightsholders.”
