Microsoft is currently previewing a new “Windows App” that can remotely connect to a Windows PC and provide access to it from any platform. The app will allow macOS, iOS, iPadOS, PCs, and web browser users to remotely connect to a Windows PC, while also acting as a gateway to Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, Microsoft Dev Box, and the Redmond company’s Remote Desktop Services.
The Mac version requires macOS 12 or later, while the iOS/iPadOS app needs a device running iOS or iPadOS 16 or later. The web version of the app can be accessed by going to windows.cloud.microsoft.
Windows App is designed with a customizable home screen to cater to your unique workflow needs. You can access Windows across multiple different services and remote PCs from a single place, and pin your favorites you access most. And if you use multiple accounts, you can easily switch between them with our easy account switching feature.
There are many features to enhance your remote experience, such as:
- Multiple monitor support.
- Custom display resolutions.
- Dynamic display resolutions and scaling.
- Device redirection, such as webcams, audio, storage devices, and printers.
- Microsoft Teams optimizations.
The Windows app includes a customizable Home Screen from which users can access multiple different cloud services and remote PCs.
Currently, the app is only available as a preview for enterprise accounts, but it is likely to be available to other customers in the future.
