A new MacRumors report claims Apple’s rumored iPhone 4 SE will finally retire its current iPhone 8-like chassis, adopting a chassis that more resembles last year’s iPhone 14. The new handset is said to carry the device identifier D59 and project codename Ghost.
The report says the iPhone SE 4 will feature a more modern look and a larger display and that in its current form, its dimensions perfectly match those of the base model iPhone 14. It will also drop the Touch ID button in favor of Face ID as biometric identification.
MacRumors also included the dimensions of the current iPhone SE 3 and the iPhone 14 to give an idea of the difference in size between the two handsets:

The iPhone SE 4 is also expected to be lighter than the iPhone 14 by about 6 grams, weighing 165 grams. Part of the weight reduction can likely be accredited to the iPhone SE 4’s single 48-megapixel rear camera, developed under the codename “Portland.” The SE 4 will sport a custom backplate for the device to account for the design change.
The fourth-generation iPhone SE is expected to use the same 6013 T6 aluminum found in the iPhone 14, along with a glass backplate. Prototypes of the iPhone SE 4 have been seen in a color closely resembling the Midnight color variant used for the iPhone 14.
The device is said to include two significant features to differentiate it from previous iPhone models – an Action button and a USB-C port.
As is usual for reports of this type, take all of this information with a grain of your favorite salt-free seasoning. We won’t know anything for sure until Apple officially unveils the iPhone SE 4.
