Sorry, iOS 17.1 Doesn’t Fix the Overnight iPhone Shutdown Bug

The iOS 17.1 update that was seeded to developers and public beta testers earlier this week does not appear to fix an issue that is causing some iPhones to turn off during the night, leading to alarms not going off, silencing notifications, and more.

iPhone users with iOS 17.1 on their iPhones that had previously experienced the issue report that they are continuing to experience the issue.

To tell if your ‌iPhone‌ turned off at night, go to the Settings app, tap on “Battery,” and check the charging status over the past 24 hours. If you see a gap, that means the ‌iPhone‌ was turned off at some point during the night.

The problem appears to affect iPhone 15 models, as well as other devices, suggesting that there is a bug in iOS 17. However, not all users are seeing the shutdown issues, nor does it appear to be happening every night.

Apple has not acknowledged this issue nor announced a fix. If and when it does, we’ll report it in this space.
