We’ve seen several rumors over the last few months about the storage options and RAM specs for the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro. Now, a report from MacRumors claims to confirm the storage and RAM specs for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The publication says it has now confirmed that Apple has tested the following storage configurations for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max:
Apple is using NAND from a few different vendors for the iPhone 15 Pro’s storage needs:
While at least one rumor claimed Apple would offer a 2TB storage option for the new Pro-level iPhones, MacRumors says it hasn’t seen any evidence that Apple tested a 2TB storage configuration. There were also claims that the iPhone 15 Pro’s base storage configuration would be 256GB, but the MacRumors report says no, 128GB will be the base amount of storage.
MacRumors also says it has learned that Apple will use LPDDR5 DRAM for the iPhone 15 Pro, the same RAM type as last year’s flagship devices. Apple tested two RAM configurations: 6GB and 8GB. The RAM was provided by:
It is not certain which of these two RAM configurations Apple opted for in the final production units. One possible explanation is that the RAM will vary depending on the storage capacity of the phone. This means iPhone 15 Pro handsets with higher storage capacities will boast 8GB of RAM rather than 6GB. A recent report from TrendForce says Apple will offer 8GB on the iPhone 15 Pro, so it’s possible that the 6GB configuration will not be offered.
The iPhone 15 Pro is also expected to be powered by an upgraded A17 SoC built using TSMC’s new 3nm manufacturing process. The new chip is expected to feature an additional GPU core, improving the device’s graphics performance. The report says the A17’s performance cores will feature an increased clock speed of 3.70 GHz, up from the 3.46 GHz clock speed of the A16.
Apple will debut its iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro lineups at its “Wonderlust” event, which will start at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time on Tuesday, September 12. Apple will livestream the event on its website and on YouTube. The livestream will be available through the Apple TV app.
Mactrast will be watching the event on Tuesday and will report all of the news, right here. See you then!
