If you’re going to restore your new iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, or iPhone 15 Pro Max from an iCloud backup, you might want to take advantage of the fact that the iPhone lineup supports USB-C to Ethernet adapters, providing much faster download speeds than a WiFi connection.
As reported by MacRumors, Apple confirmed this information in a support document that lists several USB-C accessories and such that are compatible with the iPhone 15 lineup, and USB to Ethernet adapters are on the list.
When you connect an iPhone to an Ethernet cable, an otherwise hidden Ethernet menu will appear in the Settings app, which includes IP-related information and configuration options.
One MacRumors reader told the publication that their iPhone 15 Pro connected to Ethernet achieved a peak download speed of over 800 Mbps in a speed test.
Previous iPhone models can also be connected to Ethernet, by using a Lightning to Ethernet adapter.
