Apple will bring a USB-C port to its base model AirPods and the AirPods Max as soon as 2024, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
Gurman shared his expectations for Apple’s upcoming “Wonderlust” event, providing details about the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro lineups, the Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra 2, and more.
The USB-C port will make an appearance on the company’s AirPods Pro first, with the new case being unveiled next Tuesday at the Apple media event. Gurman says the updated earbuds will not offer “any other major new hardware features.” Other AirPod models should receive a USB-C charging port as early as next year.
Gurman also shared what he says is Apple’s long-term plans for its AirPods, including body-temperature sensing and a hearing-test system. He says these updates are likely to arrive sometime after the switch to USB-C across the AirPod lineup.
