Apple will simultaneously release iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 later this month. Last year, there was a staggered release of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16, says Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman.
Gurman’s sources within Apple tell him the company is considering the eighth betas of iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 to be the final versions in all but name, “barring any unforeseen circumstances.”
Apple released the eighth beta versions of iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 to developers and public beta testers last week, as Apple works toward finalizing the release in time for the unveiling of the new iPhone 15 lineup on Tuesday, September 12..
Last year, Apple did not release iPadOS 16 until October 24, more than a month after iOS 16 officially went public. Apple held off releasing its iPad software until later in the fall to allow it more time to refine Stage Manager, which faced quite a bit of criticism during the beta development phase.
Apple will likely release iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 shortly after the iPhone 15 series is unveiled during Apple’s “Wonderlust” event on Tuesday, September 12.
