Apple this week filed a listing for a 2023 watchOS subsystem in the Bluetooth product database, as it traditionally always does before launching new Apple Watch models in September. While the listing doesn’t include any specific details about the new models, they likely refer to upcoming Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra models.
We expect to see both upcoming models boasting an S9 chip for improved performance, with rumored new color options, including pink for the Series 9 and a darker titanium finish for the next Ultra. While Apple is reportedly working on a third-generation Apple Watch SE, it is not expected to hit shelves until September 2024.
The new generation of Apple Watches are not expected to include any huge upgrades, with only minor updates to the wearables. Bigger changes are expected for a future “Apple Watch X” model that is expected to have a thinner design and possibly a new method of attaching watchbands.
Apple is expected to unveil the Apple Watch Series 9 and the second-generation Apple Watch Ultra alongside the iPhone 15 series during an event that is expected to be held in mid-September.
