The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus could come with color-matched braided USB-C to USB-C cables in the box, says a new rumor coming out of Asia.
Twitter user “Majin Bu” first tweeted the claim over the weekend, but could not verify the source of the rumor. However, Apple device prototype collector “Kosutami” has chimed in, saying they have seen design validation test (DVT) samples of the color-matched braided USB-C cables. The new color-matching cables are said to be destined to come in the box with new iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models. The tweets did not clarify whether the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models will also come with color-matched cables.
With the exception of the black version, each of the cables is said to have a glossy white plastic shell at each end. The braided USB-C cables feature strain relief tubes.
Kosutami told MacRumors that they are anticipating that these cables will at least come in white, black, yellow, purple, and orange color options. Each of these cable colors should match up with a corresponding iPhone 15 color option. A rumor in February claimed that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro lineups will be available in shades of pink and blue.
Traditionally, all iPhone boxes have included a white, rubber-jacketed cable. Apple has been gradually moving to including braided cables with its devices, so it isn’t a stretch to expect to see braided cables included in the new iPhone 15 boxes. And if other rumors pan out, the cable with be a USB-C cable
