An entry that likely refers to Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 has been spotted in India’s regulatory database, less than a month before the device is expected to debut.
MySmartPrice has spotted an Apple device, model number A3094 in the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) database. The iPhone 14 sport model numbers A2649, A2881, A2884, A2883, and A2882. No current Apple device carrying the model number A3094 currently exists. As iPhone model numbers increase with each generation, the numbers likely refer to the iPhone 15.
MySmartPrice last August discovered a single iPhone 14 model in the BIS database, just a few weeks before the announcement of the iPhone 14 lineup, with the model number A2882. The device turned out to be the standard iPhone 14 model that was built for “other countries and regions.”
Production of the iPhone 15 has started in India, making it the first time that a new iPhone model has started production outside of China before the device is officially unveiled. The device the BIS filing is likely the same model that is being produced in the country.
Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman recently said Apple is planning to announce the iPhone 15 lineup at a media event to be held on Tuesday, September 12.
