A new rumor out of China claims Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 Pro models adds a new 2TB maximum storage option. News aggregator account “yeux1122” on the Korean Naver blog says a supplier source has confirmed that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max handsets will have a top storage option that’s double the maximum storage capacity on the current iPhone 14 Pro models.
As originally reported by MacRumors, a second Weibo account posted over the weekend making the same storage claim, while also mentioning that storage for the Pro models is likely to be a minimum of 256GB storage rather than the current 128GB starting memory capacity on iPhone 14 models.
If the second rumor is also true, Apple would likely maintain four available storage tiers – 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB. Those storage increases will likely contribute to the need for Apple to increase prices this model year.
Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models will likely be $100 to $200 more expensive than the current iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models, says Tim Long, an analyst at British bank Barclays. Long bases his estimates on conversations with companies in the Asian supply chain.
This means U.S. pricing for the iPhone 15 lineup could be as follows:
In July, we saw a report from Bloomberg that said Apple is “considering” raising the price for its upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models. The report, which cites the usual “unnamed people familiar with the matter,” claims that despite a projected decline in smartphone sales, Apple plans to increase its overall revenue by raising the price of the two iPhone 15 Pro models.
