Apple has released the fifth new 17 firmware beta that’s designed for the Studio Display. The update comes two weeks after the release of the fourth beta. Apple has not provided details on what is included in the firmware update.
While all Studio Displays are able to receive over-the-air firmware updates, this firmware update is currently limited to Macs that are running the new macOS Sonoma operating system. After installing the macOS Sonoma beta, Studio Display owners can go to “System Preferences” -> “Software Update” to install the firmware.
As is usual for beta updates, Apple and Mactrast strongly recommend not installing beta firmware on your daily driver Studio Display, instead reserving beta usage on units set aside for testing and development.
