Apple expected to replace the Lightning port on its iPhone 15 lineup with a USB-C port for the first time. Now, another leaker has said Apple’s lower-cost iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will not benefit from any increase in data transfer speeds.
Leaker Majun Bu, who previously shared details about Apple’s new USB-C cables, the cables to be included in iPhone 15 boxes are limited to USB 2.0 data transfer speeds at a rate of 480 MBps, which is the same throughput as Lightning.
Meanwhile, both iPhone 15 Pro models are expected to support higher USB-C transfer speeds, hitting at least USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3. This means that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be able to transfer video and other file types much more quickly than the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.
The iPhone 15 is expected to include a braided USB-C charging cable in the box that is both thicker and longer than the Lightning cable included in the box with current iPhone models, say reports. At least one rumor says the cables will be color-matched to possible new iPhone colors.
