Another set of leaked images that are allegedly of components for the iPhone 15’s USB-C connector have been leaked to the web. Apple is widely expected to be making the move away from its traditional Lightning connector for its upcoming iPhone 15 lineup.
The move is expected to take place, due to new regulations in the European Union and Saudi Arabia, that will require Apple to switch to USB-C and the only question about the changeover is when it will take place.
If Apple is indeed switching over to USB-C for its iPhone 15 devices, it makes sense that Apple’s supply chain would be manufacturing the USB-C components now.
Leaker Majin Bu on X posted a sequence of seven images that are said to be components from the iPhone 15 Plus. Two of the photos show a front and back overview of the entire component assembly, the remaining shots are closeups of USB-C connectors, or identifying labels.

“You can see the packaged chip on the iPhone 15 series,” writes the leaker later in the thread. “The model is 3LD3.”
“Because it is a self-designed chip, the function cannot be judged by the model,” continues Majin Bu. “Judging from the same type of plastic packaged chips in the past, it may be the setting of transmission encryption.”
It should be noted that Majin Bu has a reputation for republishing images from other sources without any credit, so it’s tough to say whether or not the pics are genuine. Majin Bu’s track record for leaks has been hit or miss. As is usual for any leaks like this, we won’t know for sure until Apple unveils the new iPhone 15 lineup in September.
