Apple has updated its Shazam music recognition app to add the ability to recognize and identify songs playing in select third-party apps, including Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
VersionĀ 15.36
You can now identify songs in apps like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. Simply open Shazam, tap the blue button, and switch back to the app you were using. Remember to turn on iCloud to keep your Shazams safe and in sync with Music Recognition in Control Center. Go to Shazam Settings > iCloud Sync.
The Shazam app enables the iPhone’s microphone, allowing it to listen to the song in the third-party app while it is in use. The app identifies the song within a few seconds and will swap back to Shazam, where the song’s title and other information will be shown.
Users with an Apple Music subscription will find that Shazam adds the song to a Shazam playlist in Apple Music, where it can be enjoyed later. For those without Apple Music, they can find a history of recent Shazams in the Shazam app.
Shazam is available in the App Store for free.
