Apple Retail Stores to Now Offer Home Delivery Option to Customers

Apple retail store employees soon now be able to offer customers a home delivery option while ordering their Apple products. The option will aid customers who purchase large and bulky items, as they will not need to carry the item home, which will be handy for items like an iMac or a studio display.

The information comes from Blommberg’s Mark Gurman, writing in his latest Power On newsletter. Gurman says the EasyPay used by Apple salespeople to process in-store purchases will soon include an option for home shipping. This marks the first time such an option has been available.

In addition to making the purchase of large and bulky items much easier, it also allows a store employee to sell and arrange delivery for out-of-stock items, which would allow them to make the sale and avoid having the customer leave the store empty-handed, leading to the possible loss of a sale.

Gurman sees the new option as possibly contributing to reducing the need for the physical space required for stock in the stores. He also indicates the new sales strategy will aid sales of Apple’s new Vision Pro headset, which will involve many different custom combinations of headbands, light seals, and prescription lens inserts.

If any aspect of the customer’s required Vision Pro setup is out of stock at the store, the missing part can be shipped directly to them, thereby avoiding a potential no-sale.

According to a memo sent to retail store staff, the new “EasyPay Online Ordering” program will begin rolling out in early August.
