The Opal Network in New South Wales, Australia, is now accepting Apple Pay Express Mode, which should speed things up at the turnstile for iPhone users.
The Apple Wallet feature being used is called Express Transit, allowing users to simply tap their iPhone or Apple Watch on a transit terminal without a passcode. The feature works even if the device has lost power, thanks to a power reserve mode feature.
Users need only activate their card within the Apple Wallet app to use it with Express Mode.

Express Mode for Transit is supported on iPhone and Apple Watch with Apple Pay, compatible with iOS 16.4 or later.
The move brings a feature to iPhones that has already been available to Samsung phone users for some time. Samsung Pay Transit users can access this feature by opening the Samsung Wallet app and following the prompts.
