Opera Launches Opera One Browser – Native AI, Modular Design, Tab Islands, and More

Opera has launched a new version of its Opera browser. The new “Opera One” browser boasts native artificial intelligence integration as a new feature.

Opera One includes Aria, “the first truly native browser AI,” according to the developers. Aria can be summoned via a command line, as well as from the browser sidebar. The feature uses OpenAI’s GPT technology to optimize web searches.

Mac users can make use of a Command-/ keyboard shortcut to display an overlay and interact directly with Aria. The command line can be used to ask Aria a question and users can then interact with the browser AI’s response immediately in the sidebar or go back to browsing. Opera One also includes access to ChatGPT in the browser sidebar.

A new Tab Islands feature groups associated tabs together based on their context. Tabs can be moved around, and islands can be collapsed to make them smaller or can be saved into bookmarks or pinboards.

The new browser also boasts a new modular design that is “ready for a generative AI-based future.” The browser can dynamically adapt to users’ needs by bringing only the key features to the foreground.

Opera One is now available for free from the company’s website, Versions are available for the macOS, Windows, and Linux platforms.
