Apple is apparently preparing an iOS 16.5.1 update for the iPhone, based on evidence of the software found in MacRumors‘ website’s analytics logs last week. Apple released the first beta of iOS 17 at WWDC last week.
Most minor updates like iOS 16.5.1 typically include bug fixes, stability improvements, and security patches, instead of new features. MacRumors notes that Apple’s Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter does not work properly with iPhones running iOS 16.5, but the bug was fixed in the iOS 16.6 beta from last month, so a fix is likely to be included in iOS 16.5.1.
This is likely one of the last updates we’ll see to both iOS 16 and iPadOS 16, as Apple is expected to unveil iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.
Apple revealed earlier this month that 81% of all active iPhones were running iOS 16, that number has probably decreased, following the release of the iOS 17 beta last week.
