Apple on Tuesday seeded the fourth beta of watchOS 9.5 to developers for testing purposes. The new beta comes one week after the third watchOS 9.5 beta seed.
The watchOS 9.5 beta can be installed on an Apple Watch with the proper configuration profile installed, via the Watch app on the device’s attached iPhone. Go to “General” -> “Software Update” to install the beta. The Watch should have at least 50% battery life, be connected to a charger, and be within range of the iPhone.
watchOS 9.5 introduces the simplified beta installation method that first debuted in iOS 16.4. Developers and public beta testers enrolled in Apple’s beta programs can now toggle on beta updates from the Software Update section of the Watch app on iPhone. An Apple ID enrolled in either a public beta account or a developer account is required to enable beta updates.
We don’t yet know what’s included in the watchOS 9.5 update. However, we’ll update this article if anything notable is found in the update.
As usual, MacTrast and Apple both warn users to not install any betas on their daily driver Apple Watch, especially early versions of new operating systems. Instead, only install betas on a device set aside for testing purposes.
