Opera’s iOS Browser Adds a Free VPN With Built-In Adblocker

Opera has added a free VPN with a built-in adblocker to its iOS browser. The VPN allows users to browse the web incognito while avoiding personal data collection.

What Is a VPN?

A VPN encrypts an internet user’s internet connection, encasing it in a tunnel of encryption. This keeps a user’s online activities undercover, meaning your Internet Service Provider cannot track you online, meaning they cannot sell that info to advertisers and other nosy types.

New Opera VPN

Opera says its new addition is a no-log service that doesn’t collect personal data or information related to users’ browsing history or originating network address.

The free Opera VPN also includes a built-in ad blocker. Adblockers prevent advertisers from including unwanted advertisements in their browsers. Opera already includes Cryptojacking Protection already in its browser, keeping users safe from having their device’s resources hijacked for crypto mining.

Other Updates

Two more updates are coming to Opera Browser for iOS. A new bookmarks feature offers quick access to information when used with the browser’s Speed Dial feature. Plus, the browser’s homepage now includes a new Live Scores option for football fans.

Where Do I Get Opera for iOS?

Users can download the Opera Browser for iOS for free in the App Store and enable the VPN in the app. It requires iOS or iPadOS 12.0 or later. The new features will roll out over the coming weeks, so not everyone will immediately see the new features.
