Development of Apple’s much-rumored mini-LED 27-inch external display is still on track and the company will begin mass production of the display in 2024 or early 2025, says well-connected Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Kuo today tweeted that the device will boast “all the features one would expect from a high-end monitor.” The external mini-LED display has previously been rumored to offer ProMotion for refresh rates up to 120Hz and an Apple silicon chip.
Update on the rumored new 27" Apple display predictions:
1. It's slated for mass production in 2024 or early 2025, boasting all the features one would expect from a high-end monitor.
2. Utilizing mini-LED technology, and the most notable design change is to switch the material…— 郭明錤 (Ming-Chi Kuo) (@mingchikuo) April 11, 2023
The 27-inch monitor will have a glass backplane, Kuo explained, allowing for a thinner panel, narrower bezels, and a longer product lifespan.
Kus comments conflict with a recent report from display analyst Ross Young, who said that Apple has “Killed off” the display for now.
