Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman today reported that the 13-inch MacBook Pro will remain in Apple’s MacBook lineup, with an updated model on the way. The last time the 13-inch MacBook Pro received an external redesign was 2016.
Gurman doesn’t include any additional details about the 13-inch MacBook Pro, so it is uncertain whether the laptop will receive an external redesign and whether or not it will continue to be the last remaining MacBook Pro model equipped with a Touch Bar. The laptop was last updated internally last June with an M2 chip as well as support for high-impedance headphones. It’s unclear when the laptop might hit shelves, but a release later this year is somewhat likely.
Gurman also reported that an unreleased 15-inch MacBook Air powered by a processor that is “on par” with the M2 chip has been discovered in App Store developer logs. The much-rumored laptop is widely expected to debut at WWDC 2023 in June. Apple is also working on an updated 13-inch MacBook Air, a new 24-inch iMac, and an Apple Silicon-powered Mac Pro tower, says Gurman.
Gurman also expects to see updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models powered by M3 Pro and M3 Max chips to be released sometime during the first half of 2024.
