Apple is currently developing an updated version of its Apple Watch Ultra wearable boasting an improved microLED display, but the device had been delayed until the second half of 2025, says display analyst Ross Young.
While the microLED Apple Watch had been rumored for a 2024 launch. However, if Young is correct, we’ll see the new wearable in 2025 at the latest. Young earlier this year did mention a possible 2025 release for the Watch, but his latest comments narrow the timeframe down to the second half of the year.
We also saw Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman mention the microLED Apple Watch back in January, when he suggested the device could see an end-of-2024 release. However, it is not unusual to see timeframes shift during the development of new or revamped Apple devices due to delays in design, component sourcing, manufacturing, and more.
The Apple Watch Ultra is expected to be the first Apple device to boast a microLED display, with Apple later rolling out the display technology to the iPhone, iPad, and Mac lineup later on.
