Apple is planning to debut its second-generation AirPods Pro with a USB-C charging case later this year, says Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo says mass shipments will begin in the second or third quarter.
Apple released the second-generation AirPods Pro wireless earbuds in September 2022 and included a Lightning charging case. While Apple’s updated AirPods Pro release will use a USB-C case, other hardware changes haven’t been confirmed. Kuo believes the references to new AirPods found in the iOS 16.4 Release Candidate that was seeded earlier this week refer to the USB-C AirPods Pro.
We’re expecting to see USB-C ports on the upcoming iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro lineups, so it’s logical that we’d see a switch to USB-C on accessories, like the AirPods Pro charging case.
